Introduction

I suppose most of this information is in my profile, but still.

About Me:
I live in a teeny-tiny apartment in Olympia, Washington. I watch a lot of movies, and I like making things almost as much as I like taking things apart. I have extremely bad taste, and a particular appreciation for all things Tiki.

Where I'm From:
I've lived several different places around the country, but mostly I'm from the other Washington, meaning the DC area. I moved to Olympia about three years ago, but eventually I'll move back closer to my family.

What I Do:
Watch movies, watch old TV shows, listen to music, read books, take things apart, make things, bake things, explode things in microwaves and freezers, try to reassemble the things I've taken apart, stare at the ocean, and be cool. I spend most of my energy just being cool. It's hard work sometimes, but it's worth it.

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

It's Olympia, and it's rainy. You know what that means? Invasion of cult cinema, with my friend Trevor! I dug up Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! which I acquired years ago and for some reason have never gotten around to watching. I'm pretty sure I only picked it up because I'd heard good things about it, and I didn't even realize Russ Meyer directed it until Trevor pointed it out. Trevor lent be Beyond the Valley of the Dolls last spring, and, after watching Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! last night, I'm making it a personal mission to see everything Meyer's been involved in. It's not just the awe-inspiring badassery of his female characters, but in a sense, that's everything it is. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie with such powerful characters, and even longer since I've seen one with powerful women. Never mind that they might fall on the wrong side of the law--I rarely find myself actually picking sides with film characters, but in this one it's impossible not to. It's nice to see the bad guys win once in a while, and even nicer to see women kick some serious ass.

I'm a blogger now

So, I've decided to start a blog. In the near future, here are the kinds of things I hope to post:
-Neat free things to do around Olympia, Washington
-Reviews of any bands or shows I see
-Reviews, thoughts, or discussions about movies
-Anything ridiculously cute my pet hamster does
-Maybe interesting photos? I need to learn how to put them in posts
-Anything particularly awesome that I create or destroy
-Other interesting things?
